To merge Checkered Past (TV programming block) into this article for short text and context. Klbrain (talk) 13:09, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request received to merge articles: Checkered Past (TV programming block) into Adult Swim; dated: May 2024. Proposer's Rationale: Widely unsourced "block within a block" that is non-notable for its own article, proposing consolidation into a section in the Adult Swim article. Discuss here. • Support Toonami Rewind is merged into the main Toonami article, and this block is basically an equivalent in terms to its non-notability. I believe ACME Night was also dissolved and merged for a similar reason just a little over a year ago, correct?--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 03:20, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    • Reply: Correct, many other blocks and other special programs on Cartoon Network (i.e. Tickle U, Miguzi, Cartoon Theatre) were also merged into the network's article or deleted altogether for the same reasons. Most of CN's blocks outside of Adult Swim and Toonami aren't notable, memorable, or widely sourced enough to warrant their own individual articles. MikeM2011 (talk) 12:52, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Adult Swim on Cartoonito

[edit]

If the Adult Swim TV block were to launch on Cartoonito international channels from 17:00 to 06:00 on December 2, 2024, it would represent a significant shift in programming strategy, combining vastly different target demographics into one channel. Here are some possible considerations and implications: --- ### **Programming & Content** - **Contrast in Audience**: Cartoonito is aimed at preschoolers, while Adult Swim is designed for adults with mature, often edgy, content. A clear boundary between the two time slots (e.g., 17:00 start for Adult Swim) would be crucial to avoid audience confusion or inappropriate content exposure. - **Crossover Potential**: The collaboration might introduce unique programming concepts. For example, Cartoonito could introduce family-friendly spin-offs of Adult Swim's iconic shows. - **Broadcasting Standards**: Local regulatory and broadcasting compliance would require strict measures to ensure inappropriate content isn't aired during child-friendly hours. --- ### **Branding & Marketing** - **Rebranding Efforts**: The partnership would necessitate clear messaging about the dual nature of the channel. Effective promos could highlight the channel's "day vs. night" split. - **Synergy or Conflict**: The shift might alienate some Cartoonito viewers or parents uncomfortable with adult-oriented branding on the same channel. Conversely, it could attract a broader, family-centric audience willing to share a channel. --- ### **Operational Implications** - **Viewer Retention**: The drastic shift in tone and content might pose a risk of losing either audience segment. - **Ad Sales**: Advertisers targeting parents and young children may hesitate to share space with more mature content. However, Adult Swim's cult following could attract premium advertisers. --- ### **Example Schedule** #### Cartoonito (06:00–17:00) - Early morning: Educational shows - Midday: Interactive programming - Afternoon: Family-friendly content #### Adult Swim (17:00–06:00) - Evening: Comedy and animation classics (e.g., **Rick and Morty**, **The Eric Andre Show**) - Late night: Edgy or experimental content (e.g., **Aqua Teen Hunger Force**, **Robot Chicken**) --- ### Success Factors - Strong communication about programming blocks. - Careful scheduling to meet varying audience needs. - Localized adaptations to meet cultural and regulatory standards. 46.191.232.229 (talk) 17:04, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
